Sahiba Sawhney heads the Dance Design School
Sahiba Sawhney entered the world of performance art at the young age of 9 and now – after nearly a decade and half will still regard herself as a humble student of dance. Having learned a myriad number of styles such as jazz, ballet, Jazz-funk, hip-hop, Indian Folk, kathak and bollywood, she did her first solo choreography for her school at the age of 13 but at 15 she found a style that made her feel most content and happy – Salsa.
Now for the last 7 years she has taken that love for Latin and performed and taught internationally in Berlin, Paris, Istanbul, Antalya, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bali, Manila, Sydney, Doha as well as Delhi, Pune, Indore, Udaipur, Chennai, Calcutta and Bangalore.
Being part of the Bollywood fraternity was never part of her plans but she was never one to turn down an experience to learn and grow. So now she has worked on numerous commercials with production houses and has choreographed for Coke, Fiama Di Wills, Vicks and Dabur and has personally been in music videos for Rock your body – Shamur and Aloo Chaat Title track. Additionally has also worked with Ganesh Hegde and Remo D’Souza and performed for Filmfare Awards 2015. Currently for the past 2 year has been assisting and working with ABCD actor – Karishma Chavan on the live shows for Shibani Dandekar.
Being stylish and graceful have always been her forte and so with her degree in Fashion Design she has founded a company called- ‘Dance Design’ that gives the best of both worlds. Her label caters to designer shoes, clothes and accessories for Dance Lovers as well as Dance events and platforms for performances, choreography’s and professional shows.
She has always aspired to be good at more than just one style because she believes that being a true artist means knowledge on every field and aspect of her artistry.
With ‘Dance Designs’ she aims to bring the dance community the chic-ness and sexy-ness it truly deserves!
